ユーリ：自分のブログにはかなり頻繁に部分引用させていただいていたものの（http://d.hatena.ne.jp/itunalily/archive?word=Satoshi+Ikeuchi+）、今回初めて記録として、自分のフェイスブックに池内氏のFBを移行しました。特に日文研にいらした頃のことは、個人的に私もさまざまな接点があったので（http://d.hatena.ne.jp/itunalily/20141010）、懐かしいです。
ユーリ：それに、今、アメリカのロバート・スペンサーの最新記事を読んだところで、私としては立腹しているからです。日本のことも知らないのに、安倍総理の本件に関する意思表明の言質を取ったかのように、茶化していたのです。彼の勤勉な点は評価していますが、大統領選に立候補するとかで、ちょっと調子に乗り過ぎでは？大衆向けの彼のイスラーム本を何冊か入手して読んだことがありますが、一昨年辺り、ダニエル・パイプス先生の「イスラームVSイスラーム主義」という議論立てに学問的素養抜きでかみついて以来、何だか距離を置きたくなりました。
ユーリ：同盟国なんだから、元敗戦国を茶化している場合じゃない！もっと真面目に敬意を持ってください。大統領にはなれませんよ。

o I do not want Mr. Robert Spencer to become a candidate for the next U.S. President. I have a few of his popular books on Islam at home, but I think that they are not scholastic-oriented but populist-oriented in nature.
o How much does he know about the Japanese scholarships on Islam since before the Second World War up until now? There are several streams in understanding of Islam in Japan, by the way.
o In Iraq, for example, I hear that the Japanese contribution to the local people has been highly appreciated and that President George W. Bush thanks us many times for that. What does he think about it?
o The U.S. and Japan are allies, but there are tremendous differences in cultural expression between them. I personally do not agree 100 % with the Prime Minister Abe's expression on Islam this time, but he is not a scholar of Islam but a politician.
o If Mr. Spencer wants to criticize the Japanese official position towards the so-called IS, he must check first who the main advisor to Mr. Abe is now and criticize the person in charge.
o Can Mr. Spencer really rescue for the Japanese victims in the so-called IS? If he cannot, please do not make fun of our politician's words and deeds. We are taxpayers, not you!

The imam Not-Quite-Honest Abe joins his fellow imams Barack Obama, John Kerry, Joe Biden, David Cameron, Theresa May and others in explaining that what the Islamic State is doing has nothing to do with Islam. The Islamic State jihadis would beg to differ, of course, and have convinced unprecedented numbers of young Muslims in the West to travel to Iraq and Syria to join them, but the learned imams aren’t concerned about the implications of that at all.

人命がかかっているという時に、他国のことだからといって、まるで他人事のように書くなんて....。私は、安倍総理の本件に関する発言に100パーセント同意しているわけではないが、基本路線としては賛成である。イスラーム問題担当のブレーンは誰かが問題であって、現在の緊急時には、いちいち発言の揚げ足を取るな、と言いたい。
中東政策は、アメリカと資源の限られた日本とでは、そもそも違っている（http://d.hatena.ne.jp/itunalily/20130923）。それは、必ずしも日本側のイスラーム理解の不足からではなく、非西洋圏の日本や日本人に対する現地感情を考慮した上での一つの方策でもある。また、日本独自の文化表現でもある。経済援助や技術支援や医療活動など、政府レベルおよび各種の民間団体が、それぞれにできることを精一杯務めてきた。それが、アメリカに原爆を投下された敗戦国日本が選択した、中東和平への希求および国際貢献の道なのである。
イスラーム理解やイスラーム研究に関しては、スペンサー氏が生まれる前から、日本にも蓄積がないわけではない。
それに、イスラーム理解や対応については、日本にも幾つかの潮流がある。上記に引用させていただいた池内恵氏（http://d.hatena.ne.jp/itunalily/archive?word=%C3%D3%C6%E2%B7%C3）は、その一つ。私だって、それ相応に、計四年間の現地滞在とムスリム観察と文献調査などを積み重ねてきた以上、私なりの立場を持っているつもりだ。ムスリム言語であるマレー語も、何とか新聞ぐらいは読め、聖書もマレー語とインドネシア語で読んできた。マレーシアの各種新聞にも、何度か投稿して掲載していただいている。二十代の頃、三年間もマレー人に教えてきたので、マレー系ムスリムの感情や態度などは、だいたい把握しているつもりである。
学問として、勇気を持って事実に即して発言しなければならないことと、政治や外交として、婉曲に事を運ばなければ人命が尊重できないということ、これをしっかりと峻別すべきである。
